This strategic communications role is a great opportunity to make an immediate impact in an innovative consumer technology startup with a unique combination of hardware and software. Reporting into the VP of Marketing, you will work directly with the CEO and cross?functional team leads to drive messaging and PR strategy. Work closely with media across business, tech and lifestyle, occasionally in a spokesperson capacity.
Manage company?s Brand, Product & Corporate communications across PR as well as Social, Web/Blog and other community-building channels
Manage PR agencies across key markets and support partners? PR needs in their respective territories
Lead agencies on various PR activities including plan development and implementation, media relations, social media, awards and speaking opportunities, while maximizing agency ROI
Develop strategic plans and implementation for global PR campaigns for product launches, partners, key buying seasons (i.e. Back to School, Holiday)
Identify and optimize opportunities for press coverage during non-news cycles leveraging trends, partners, thought leadership, customers, etc.
Build and maintain strong relationships with consumer, technology, and business press/bloggers, as well as industry analysts
Create and maintain all PR-related content and material for press releases, media advisories, pitches, FAQs, internal Q&As, relevant sections of the website, blog, reviews materials, etc.
Prepare executives and spokespeople for media briefings, press tours and other related appearances
Forecast and manage PR budget
At least 7 years of experience in PR, ideally working with consumer-facing brands/products
Strong background in media relations, strategic planning & execution, project management
Excels at balancing strategy/creativity with the proven ability to implement on-time and on-budget
Must be able to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
Strong writing and communication skills with the ability to achieve a variety of tones/styles depending on audience and strategic objectives of relevant piece (Press Release, Email, Blog post, social media posts)
Independent, pro-active, self-starter with ability to complete projects with minimal supervision and communicate to manager.
Bachelor?s degree or equivalent
Nice to Have
Experience with product launches for consumer electronics/technology and/or luxury/lifestyle brands
Experience managing international agencies
Experience at a top-tier PR agency
Prior start-up experience strongly preferred
Comfort pitching and conducting product demos to media and journalists
