(Sr.) Scientist, BioProcess R&D OPX Biotechnologies
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED The person in this position will collaborate with group members and cross-functional colleagues to develop robust, scalable bacterial strains and bio-processes for the production of renewable biochemicals and biofuels. Duties involve designing and developing solutions to complex culturing and process challenges, with a focus on culture productivity, medium and bioprocess development, and improved understanding of candidate strain physiology. This includes the design and execution of laboratory scale experiments, detailed observations, analysis of data, interpretation of results, oral presentations and written reports, and serving as champion of new ideas for project advancement. Maintaining well organized, clear and complete laboratory records for procedural and intellectual property documentation will be required.
A PhD in Chemical Engineering, Microbiology or related field with 3+ years? experience in industrial biotechnology research and development is preferred but other amounts of education and experience will be considered and will determine the final level and title of the position. A comprehensive understanding and significant experience in successful strain and novel bioprocess development is required. Must have demonstrated hands-on technical knowledge and proficiency in industrial microbiology, metabolic pathway engineering, fermentation technology and process scale-up. Proficiency with statistical analysis tools for evaluation of experimental data is required, while experience with troubleshooting aseptic operation, metabolic flux analysis and development of predictive small scale strain screening technologies is desired. The ideal candidate will also be self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, an effective communicator, and experienced working collaboratively in a matrix organization with cross-functional teams.
