(Sr.) Scientist, Molecular Biology OPX Biotechnologies
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED This position will support microbial strain, pathway and enzyme engineering programs using state of the art metabolic engineering, synthetic biology, and evolutionary engineering techniques. Design, construct and characterize strains (growth, production, metabolite profiling, enzyme assays, and protein expression). Work and interact on a daily basis with the molecular biology, genomics, biochemistry, analytical and fermentation teams with the ability to analyze and interpret data, and identify critical issues in the development of new microbial production strains. May provide work direction or supervision to one or more Research Associates.
PhD degree in Metabolic Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Molecular Biology, Microbial Genetics, or a related field with a minimum of 3 yrs. of relevant industrial experience. Strong ?hands on? molecular biology experience with expertise in cutting edge systems biology and synthetic genomics approaches to metabolic engineering challenges for chemicals production. Also requires excellent general understanding of cellular physiology and regulation for strain design to enable manipulation for desired outcomes. Very good computer skills (Pi/SAS, advanced Excel preferred), able to manage, organize, and critically evaluate data. Must thrive in a fast paced, dynamic, project team driven work environment. Excellent organization and communication skills (both written and oral) absolutely required. Experience mentoring or leading others a plus.
