Job Summary:
The Senior Solutions Engineer performs solutions integration and verification and protocol interoperability testing between BroadSofts BroadWorks product and partner products including phones, video devices, IP-PBXs, media gateways, session border controllers, IMS cores, etc. Senior solutions engineers build and verify complex solutions involving multiple components. They provide protocol and interoperability consulting to partners and internally to various organizations. They actively work with SIP and other protocols, perform analysis and troubleshooting, and compose detailed and complex technical documentation. They perform in a technical leadership role and provide mentoring for team members with less experience. Qualified individuals must be highly motivated individual contributors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Integrate and verify complex solutions per requirements with multiple VoIP components.
Provide technical solution documentation describing the configuration and integration of solution components.
Perform SIP interoperablity testing of VoIP equipment including but not limited to the following: IP phones, soft clients, audio and video MCUs, media gateways, IMS cores (CSCF), IP-PBXs, session border controllers.
Perform MGCP interoperability testing of cable equipment and other MGCP/NCS devices.
Provide consulting to partners for protocol and issue analysis.
Provide consulting to internal organizations for protocol and issue analysis.
Mentor solutions engineers.
Document and maintain procedures/guides for use of partner equipment with BroadWorks.
Participate in maintaining solutions lab including:
o Manage lab BroadWorks interoperability systems including system administration and software installation, upgrades, and patches;
o Facilitate partner use of interoperability systems (create accounts, perform configuration, etc.)
o Configure partner equipment and integrate into lab;
o Configure and troubleshoot IP network (routers, firewall, DNS, DHCP, etc.);
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist internal organizations with demo setups and integration of new equipment.
Participate in VoIP interoperability testing events.
WORK COMPLEXITY:
Requires advanced technical ability to build and verify complex solutions given high-level requirements and minimal supervision or assistance.
Requires advanced technical documentation ability.
Requires ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex protocol issues and provide clear and concise written analysis.
Requires ability to work with new products and new concepts and get up to speed very quickly.
Requires organization and attention to detail.
DISCRETION & INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT:
The senior solutions engineer focuses on complex tasks and must use independent judgment to quickly identify issues/roadblocks/workarounds and to keep projects on schedule.
The senior solutions engineer often works directly with partners via email, phone, and IM. The senior solutions engineer must use discretion when interacting with partners to effectively reach consensus on issue root cause and ownership of tasks in order to foster a positive image of BroadSoft with our partners.
The senior solutions engineer must use independent judgment to determine when/who to consult inside or outside the organization to resolve technical problems outside the scope of the engineers expertise.
EDUCATION:
Degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
KNOWLEDGE:
Strong working knowledge of SIP/SDP/RTP and associated RFCs.
Strong working knowledge of Linux/Unix/Solaris at system administration level.
Strong working knowledge of Wireshark and/or other protocol analysis tools.
Working knowledge of several of the following: Acme Packet SBC, Cisco IOS, IP-PBX, MGCP, 3GPP/IMS, 4G/LTE, ISUP, ISDN, CALEA, provisioning, 3PCC, IP networks and troubleshooting, IPV6, Video H263/H264, FAX T38, VMWare, Packet Cable, SIP Trunking.

EXPERIENCE:
5-7 years VoIP experience
Interoperability and/or solutions integration test plan creation and test cycle experience
Proficiency with several of the following: Acme Packet SBC, Cisco IOS, IP-PBX, MGCP, 3GPP/IMS, 4G/LTE, ISUP, ISDN, CALEA, provisioning, 3PCC, IP networks and troubleshooting, IPV6, Video H263/H264, FAX T38, VMWare, Packet Cable, SIP trunking
