THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED GSN Games is seeking a 2D Artist Intern with strong vector illustration and visual design skills. You?ll work with a passionate group of world-class artists on a wide variety of web and mobile games, as well as the worldwide marketing initiatives to support them. This will be a Spring Co-Op opportunity in our San Francisco office, with paid full-time or part-time options for current students!
Projects you will work on include social, mobile, casino and casual games, as well as the creation and polishing of assets to support games, marketing, product design and maybe even a logo or two.
You will gain valuable, hands-on experience into the creative process in a industry-leading video game studio, while being exposed to multiple areas of creative production.
You will learn the ropes of how to partner with other artists and managers from various departments, and increase your understanding of the creative content needed to make a successful game. You'll even get a free lunch each week with a director or two and learn the intricacies of the games industry, business strategy to the company and valuable guidance on your career.
Responsibilities will include partnering with your art director, as well as other creatives, to assess what needs exist to support upcoming projects, followed by the production of imagery for those projects. This might be a character, a prop, a background environment painting, or even a logo.
About the Candidate
You're eagerly learning the ropes when it comes to exceptional digital/vector illustration. Your artwork is fun! You know how to 'show' rather than merely 'tell' when creating imagery that may have a theme (example: You might make iconography, characters and UI art that would support a 'Happy Holidays!' game or marketing campaign).
You know how to make vectored art using Illustrator and Flash, as well as bitmapped art using Photoshop.
You enjoy collaborating with other creatives to support their design needs, creating those assets, and most importantly: learning their best practices!
You enjoy creating fun and playful assets, as well as seeking feedback from your teammates to find ways to create even more compelling visuals. You'll partner with an art director to learn ways to improve the presentation of your art, and celebrate seeing your work be put in front of millions of gamers and consumers!
Currently pursuing a degree from a top university
Solid understanding of?
Digital illustration, character design (experience in graphic design a plus, thought not required).
Strong knowledge of digital illustration and vector graphics: Illustrator, Photoshop and Flash!
A passion to learn, seek feedback and grow as a professional artist.
