Kiva Systems, Inc. is a rapidly growing Boston based robotics company that is revolutionizing supply chain operations. Our customers are large retailers, catalog operators, e-commerce and other companies that ship direct to consumers, businesses and retail stores.
Kiva is seeking a Manufacturing Supervisor with extensive experience leading technicians in an electro-mechanical manufacturing environment. The company has a complex product that requires a detail oriented, organized, and high-energy individual to coordinate daily production requirements. The successful candidate for this position will be self-managing and understand the culture of a startup company. This position reports directly to the Production Manager. This position is a working manager position and not a" 9-5 job". This is a hands-on position which will require the individual to not only supervise technicians but to also assemble and test products as necessary.
This position will work closely with the Engineering and Purchasing teams and be responsible for Manufacturing activities including but not limited to:
Coordinate activities of 15 to 30 electro-mechanical technicians and plan production operations to maximize productivity, promote teamwork, and meet demand requirements
Ensure quality product by improving operational processes, work instructions, test processes, and root cause corrective action - Proactively review on-hand inventory to ensure no supply disruptions
Improve production processes with data collection, analysis, and implementation
Conduct employee reviews, hiring, firing, and disciplinary functions The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications: - 3 to 5 years management and technician experience in a manufacturing environment building custom-designed electro-mechanical products at a rate of hundreds per month
Demonstrated success in small to medium size companies in a production environment that required a broad range of duties and responsibilities and extensive interaction with engineering and purchasing personnel
Well versed in Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement principles & techniques
Strong leadership, interpersonal and team building skills - Demonstrated communication, planning and organizational skills a must - Strong commitment to quality
Proficiency with computers including Word, Excel, Power Point, Access and ERP systems
Strong oral and written English communication skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks
Bachelors degree preferred
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
