Responsibilities:
- Proactively prospect, qualify, grow, and maintain an account list while meeting annual revenue goals
- Create advertising sales strategies, proposals, and presentations for core and new accounts
- Engage and strategize with agencies and clients to determine their business needs and formulate ad sales programs
- Establish and cultivate strong relationships by conducting face to face sales calls and client entertainment
- Proactively communicate account forecasts and sales information to sales management
- Communicate account leads and proposal updates to print and/or corporate sales teams
Requirements:
- Rolodex/relationships with top-tier interactive/traditional advertising agencies and leading marketers; strong client contacts desired
- Proven track record of revenue growth, specialty experience in the automotive or entertainment categories a plus
- Experience selling integrated content + media programs a plus
- Business development acumen; the ability to consult with marketers and in effect treat them as programmers who are creating content that will leverage the power of their brand
- Competency in strategic thinking and demonstrated success in working with internal and external departments developing successful sales campaigns is a must
- Ability to adjust and refocus in a dynamic and ever-changing environment
- Previous experience building a sales team and designing a sales compensation plan
- Strong presentation and closing skills based on field experience with major accounts
- Strong conceptual and consultative sales skills and the ability to position the full suite of Demand Media opportunities against interactive stand alone and integrated sales competition, in addition to traditional advertising vehicles
- Demonstrated ability to craft and tell a compelling story around passion points
- An action-oriented self-starter who can take limited direction and produce tangible results
- Ability to make good decisions in a timely manner based on analysis, experience, judgment and wisdom; sought out by others for advice and counsel
- Skillful negotiator in tough situations with both internal and external groups; can effectively settle differences with minimum disruption to relationships and the process; is direct and forceful yet diplomatic; gains the trust of other parties quickly
- An individual who is known in the marketplace and brings established contacts
- Ability and vision to creatively execute company and team goals
- Entrepreneurial spirit
- Willingness to travel
- College degree preferred
