We are hiring an outstanding individual to join our team as an Accountant II to work out of our Eagan, MN office.
The Accountant II will provide support for general accounting functions including assisting in the month-end close and in the monthly reporting process, account analysis and preparation of journal entries.
Key Duties / Responsibilities
Manage accounting and reporting related to royalty contracts: perform analysis, prepare month-end accruals, complete account reconciliations and amortization schedules. Prepare monthly and quarterly royalty reports and process monthly and quarterly royalty payments according to the terms of royalty contracts. Key contact person for royalty accounting.
Month-end close support. Work closely with accounting manager and financial analysts to ensure accuracy of postings to the general ledger, including month-end reporting and review of P&L activity.
Accurate and timely preparation of required journal entries posted throughout month-end close process. Prepare and maintain recurring journal entries and ensure posting dates are updated/maintained.
Post all open reversing journal entries after the month-end close.
Prepare assigned general ledger account reconciliations. Analyze accounts for volatility, risk and atypical transactions. Analyze account activity to ensure appropriate accounting rules are applied.
Ensure the integrity of the reconciliation process by providing supporting documentation. Review procedures for process improvements.
Run and modify Access database queries used for the royalties, sales revenue and cost analysis. Reconciles revenue database to the general ledger to ensure accuracy. Research and resolve reconciling differences. Identify process improvement opportunities.
Assist with the departmental budgeting and analysis.
Assist with coordination of audit documentation. Prepare audit schedules. Ensure completeness of interim and annual audit records. Provide documentation to auditors.
Prepare ad hoc reports.
Assist the Accounting Manager to ensure compliance with GAAP, SOX, and internal control policies and procedures.
Other projects as assigned.
Education & Knowledge Required
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA preferred but not required
Experience / Skills / Abilities Required
Minimum of 3 years experience in general accounting
Experience in all accounting functions including assisting in the preparation of month-end financial statements, preparing journal entries and reconciling balance sheet accounts
Strong PC skills, intermediate Excel skills and intermediate Access databases queries desired
Strong organizational skills
Excellent verbal & written communication skills
Ability to interact with others and resolve issues independently
Stable work history & excellent work references
High level of personal integrity, leadership skills, & strong work ethic
