Accounting Assistant (Req #116) OptiMedica
The Catalys? System developed by OptiMedica is designed to bring precision to the critical steps in cataract surgery. We are looking for an Accounting Assistant (Req #116) to join our fast growing company. The person in this role will focus on Accounts Payable, but will also perform a variety of general accounting support tasks. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this person provides information for managers, staff and employees in areas of reporting, accounts payable & receivable, employee expenses and record keeping.Interested in applying or learning more, please contact careers@optimedica.com.
Job Functions
Utilizes computerized accounting software programs (Great Plains, Excel, Word) to perform duties and responsibilities
Update and maintain accounting journals, ledgers and other records detailing financial business transactions (e.g., disbursements, expense vouchers, receipts, accounts payable)
Verifies the accuracy of invoices and other accounting documents or records
Compile data and prepare a variety of reports
Reconciles records with internal company employees and management, or external vendors or customers
Recommends actions to resolve discrepancies
Investigate questionable data
Prepare daily deposits of sales receipts
Reconcile bank accounts
Prepare authorized refund vouchers
Researches cash receipts, coding and posting of receipts
Prepares daily bank deposit
Researches and applies unallocated cash
Oversees client trust accounts, accounts receivable write-offs and payment reversals
Organizes and maintains up to date financial records
Provides monthly financial and management reports
Assists in financial management and analysis, as requested
Organizes and maintains retention files for required period of time
Requirements/Skills
1-3 years hands-on Accounting experience
Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational skills
Good mathematical aptitude
Ability to use 10-key calculator for a variety of accounting functions
Education
Associates degree or equivalent experience. Undergrad degree in business preferred.
