Job Description :
The Accounting Manager is a leading member of the finance team and is involved with all areas related to financial reporting. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. The Accounting Manager will act as a mentor to junior level accountants and ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger activities, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities. The Accounting Manager will have regular contact with the CFO, Controller, and senior-level Attorneys, which requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.
Manage the month-end close process
Execute high quality, accurate, timely, and insightful financial and operational analysis and reporting.
Review contracts and escalate issues as needed.
Research and interpret accounting positions
Work closely with FP&A on Budgets, Forecast, and other Ad-hoc reporting requests.
Provide value added commentary on monthly financial results relative to budgets, forecasts, and prior year.
Manage the software revenue recognition process and understand the underlying contracts and any rev rec triggers
Work with the Controller and/or CFO on treasury, compliance reporting, managerial reporting, and tax activities, as needed.
Work with the Controller to ensure a clean and timely year end audit.
Support Controller with special projects and workflow process improvements.
Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.
Analyze key performance metrics, enhance executive dashboard reporting and develop cross-functional balanced scorecard for business insights.
Provide all financial related presentation materials and commentary for monthly and quarterly Board of Directors reporting.
Support strategic and business development activities through analysis on growth initiatives such as new product introductions, new and expanded services, and pricing.
Annual strategic plan support.
Project manager for any systems improvements.
Job Requirements :
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required. MBA and/or CPA are a plus.
5-8 years of experience in accounting and financial analysis. Software industry experience desirable.
Demonstrated knowledge of auditing, accounting, and finance principles and procedures.
Treasury/cash management experience desirable.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel/Access
Strong PowerPoint/presentation development skills.
Demonstrated ability to analyze results and assess financial impact of business decisions.
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to convey information to all levels of the organization in a clear, focused, and concise manner.
Ability to read and interpret contracts
Ability to offer opinions and support senior management and business leaders to drive impactful change.
Ability to multi-task with minimal supervision and high attention to detail. Comfortable working with teams laterally in a collaborative environment.
