Job Summary
The Accounting/Payroll Specialist is responsible for providing accounting payroll support to the Finance and HR departments. This includes, but is not limited to, processing and monitoring vendor payables, employee expense reports, customer invoices and preparing and processing payroll. Providing these services in an effective and efficient manner will ensure that the Company?s finances are accurate, that staff is paid in a timely and appropriate manner, that customers are invoiced in a timely manner and that vendors and suppliers are paid within established time limits. The position will report jointly to the Human Resources Manager and Accounting Manager.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Perform the day to day processing of weekly accounts payable transactions, monthly customer invoicing and semi-monthly payroll to ensure that finances are maintained in an effective and accurate manner.
Receive and verify invoices and requisitions for goods and services
Verify that transactions comply with financial policies and procedures
Code, process and post invoices for payment
Process reports after data entry
Manage the weekly check run
Prepare vendor checks for mailing
Maintain updated vendor files
Run monthly aging reports
Enter and post cash receipts
Research discrepancies
Assist in monthly close accruals
Process all aspects of payroll
Prepare new hire packets
Enroll employees in benefits
Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications
Bachelor?s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
0-3 yrs experience with payroll and general ledger systems
Excellent interpersonal skills
Self-motivated
Strong work ethic and team player
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
Deadline-oriented
Ability to deal sensitively with confidential information
Strong time management and organization skills
Strong PC skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
Payroll and general ledger system experience preferred
