The Accounts Payable Specialist will report directly to the Accounting Manager of a fast paced technology company. Avalaras Accounts Payable Specialist position provides you the opportunity to perform a variety of basic to advanced accounting functions in accordance with standard Accounts Payable department procedures. An appropriate candidate should have a proven and successful 6+ year track record in Accounts Payable, a thorough understanding of the full cycle Accounts Payable process, best practices, and the drive to grow personally as well as professionally.
Full cycle accounts payable process;
Interfacing with various department heads to confirm invoice accuracy and obtaining approval and coding;
Process vendor payments;
Process check requests;
Review invoices for fixed asset and prepaid items, working closely with staff accountant to ensure proper accounting treatment;
Prepare weekly check runs;
Audit records, review and process employee expense reports in accordance with Company policy;
Maintain AP files;
Investigate and resolve discrepancies and other payment issues with vendors;
Obtain, maintain and update W-9s from vendors. Responsible for the timely submission of 1099 reporting.
Act as the backup for payroll processing.
Assist in the support of the annual financial statement audit;
Experience and Skills:
Extensive and recent MS Great Plains Dynamics Accounts Payable module knowledge and usage;
Minimum of 6+ years accounts payable experience;
Ability to meet tight deadlines;
Detail oriented, organized and demonstrated ability to prioritize;
Obtaining and maintaining W-9s from vendors;
Experience and performance of 1099 reporting;
Ability to act independently, with minimal daily direction to accomplish objectives;
Advanced Excel skills which include pivot tables and other advanced functions;
Professional communication skills with a focus on customer service for our clients, both internally and externally;
Ability to work in a faced paced environment and overtime when needed.
Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, and problem solving in order to achieve outstanding results;
Experience with Concur Expense Management a plus;
Payroll experience a plus;
AA accounting education a plus;
High school diploma.
