The Team
The Huffington Post Operations team manages the day-to-day and long-term initiatives related to advertising inventory monetization and campaign operations, content publishing and native advertising products, consumer and audience research and analytics, and executive business metrics and reporting. This team reports to the CEO of The Huffington Post, Jimmy Maymann, and is tasked with driving critical business initiatives for revenue growth.
The Role:
To support our growth initiatives, we are pushing the envelope of what commercial programming and advertising tech is all about. This isn't just about banner flash ads. We are exploring exciting new areas in the social and contextual spaces. On every platform and every screen. Our products iterate almost daily and we need someone that can help us monetize our innovations and maximize our partners' resources.
In this high-impact role, you?ll report to the Vice President, Operations of The Huffington Post Media Group. As an Advertising Technical Manager, you will work with the development and engineering team, but supporting advertising operations initiatives that drive revenue. You will help create cross-platform ad products, identify and resolve ad delivery problems, develop new products, and implement new targeting technologies.
This may involve, specifically:
Helping to define and refine (code review, trouble shooting) new and existing Huffington Post commercial products and features across platforms, including areas such as, but not limited to
Reserved inventory monetization: initiatives to improve ad product packaging, pricing, inventory management
Remnant inventory monetization (ad networks/exchanges/SSPs/DSPs) ? display ad products and targeting
Video (in-site, HuffPost Live) and mobile monetization (mobile web and apps)
Commercial Publishing / native advertising
e-commerce strategy: affiliate programs, new initiatives
Defining technical requirements and specifications for ad solutions across various ad formats and platforms
Providing technical guidance and support to Operation teams when assessing business initiatives
Developing strong relationships with Technology and Engineering teams across the organization
Supporting AOL AdOps team in successful fulfillment of sales contracts
When necessary, identifying and managing key vendors to enable and execute ad solution strategies; Vendor/Partner onboarding and execution, specifically guidance regarding standards, specifications, page layout and interaction, set up with internal trafficking and systems teams

Required experience and knowledge:
Bachelor?s Degree preferably in a quantitative discipline. Graduate degree a plus, but not required
Advanced expertise in client-side technologies is a must (JS, HTML, XML, CSS, DOM manipulation, browser and doctype variabilities)
Experience with well known commercial platforms such as adtech, Doubleclick and Google AdSense makes you a very strong candidate for this job; Experience working with Ad Operations teams even more so
Experience with mobile platform development is highly desired and a fast-growing section of our company with lots of opportunities
Flash and Actionscript abilities are highly desired
Solid knowledge in Linux, Apache, PHP and/or Perl, and MySQL are also highly desired
Experience in Moveable Type is nice
Grounding in the concepts of version control, CDN caching, web statistics, and website optimization is also nice
Experience with social media applications and their APIs helps
Deep knowledge of online advertising formats and platforms, industry standards, and competitive ecosystem including ad networks, exchanges, SSPs, DSPs etc.; Participation in relevant advertising community forums (e.g., IAB, AdMonsters, etc) a plus
Experience taking business requirements and converting into technical requirements or defining and launching new products, features or processes
