Wetpaint is the worlds largest owned-and-operated network of topic-focused websites. Every month, over 8MM deeply connected fans the world over consume over 50MM page views of content on subjects ranging from television and entertainment, to gadgets, to everything in between. Founded in Seattle in 2005, Wetpaint has 40 million in funding from the same venture firms that backed companies like Facebook, Starbucks, Glam, and others. Wetpaint powers fan sites for leading entertainment companies like Fox, HBO, Showtime, MSN Entertainment, Turner Entertainment Networks, and Fandango to better connect the brands and their stars with fans.
The Advertising Operations Manager will report directly to the CFO/ CRO and be responsible for all aspects of ad operations from ad placement taxonomy to forecasting to trafficking/ pacing. Primary responsibility will be to optimize our advertising revenue by managing a set of properties and implement campaigns across our network of 8M unique visitors and 60M page views. This position must work closely across the organization including Sales, Technology, Platform, and Publishing. The ideal candidate needs to have working knowledge in the online advertising space and in the technologies used to support online operations, such as ad serving (DFP, Atlas, etc.), audience management tools, inventory applications, HTML, Flash, and third party ad tags. They will have applicable experience setting up (technology/ processes), executing within Ad Operations, and developing long term strategies for Wetpaint. Need to have exceptional skills when it comes to high attention to details and the ability to build a scalable solution for a high growth publishing company. In addition, candidates with experience working with 3rd party data providers a plus.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create and manage end to end process flow for ad operations. Responsible for all campaign-related trafficking including proper setup, launch deadlines, QA, and troubleshooting
- Deliver actionable insights to manager with a focus on advertising revenue and placement optimization
- Provide pre- and post-sales operations support to the sales team, including forecasting, pacing, and special performance reports
- Reach expert status in analytical reporting suite allowing for the development of scalable reports focused on current business trends
- Manage ComScore and other 3rd party data providers
- Successfully implement 3rd party user targeting solutions
- Insure consistent output/ communication as it pertains to metrics, plan, and analysis
- Other duties/ ad hoc projects as assigned
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Ability to work and thrive in a multi-tasked, fast paced environment with professional, get it done self starter attitude. Capacity to work independently as well as part of a team
- 3+ years of experience in Ad Operations involving ad taxonomy, transitioning ad servers, trafficking, and pacing campaigns. Must be knowledgeable in third party ad serving systems, debugging tags, technically savvy with various online advertising platforms, reports, & tools. Experience with DFP, Atlas, or similar Ad Servers a must, along with 3rd party ad serving systems including Atlas, Accipiter, 24/7 OAS, Pointroll, EyeBlaster, and Adify
- Experience working with content management systems and yield management providers (AdMeld, Rubicon, or Pubmatic)
- Knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, and Flash a plus
- Strong skill set in Microsoft Excel
- Proven track record of defining and executing key analyses
- Detailed oriented with the goal of zero defect analysis
- Excellent interpersonal abilities along with good oral and written communication skills
- Bachelors degree required with a preferred major in Business Administration or other analytical intensive studies
