Developing system level requirements based on vehicle level requirements and industry benchmarks of competitors vehicles for lift and drag; Performing computational flow and thermal analysis, physical testing and vehicle analysis in the areas of: drag, lift, heat management, cooling airflow, cabin ventilation, aerodynamic induced noise, water management, fluid/structure interaction; Participating in design reviews to assure Aerodynamics, Powertrain Cooling and HVAC subsystem considerations are being addressed; Assessing and documenting the requirements of a particular system; Developing in CAD: system interfaces, master model and detailed part models (CATIA V5); and Utilizing working knowledge of aerodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer and thermal management.
Job Requirements: Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering or related field or foreign equivalent and 3 years of experience in the job offered or in aeronautical engineering.
Will accept alternate requirements: Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering or related field and 5 years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in aeronautical engineering.
Special Requirements: Requires experience in: 1. Physical testing of automotive aerodynamics; 2. A class surface design using CATIA V5; and, 3. Analysis of CFD and experimental aerodynamics.
