Job Qualifications (basic job description):
Research lead to initate and grow Aurora research into UAS integration into the National Airspace System (NAS), and other reserach into UAS operations.
Initiate Aurora work on UAS in the NAS. Network with the wider reserach community in this area. Build contacts and identify external funding sources to support Aurora research in this area.
Lead proposal efforts for funded research for UAS in the NAS issues. Contribute to other Aurora proposals where UAS in the NAS issues are relevant.
Grow the Aurora team working with UAS in the NAS issues by identifying and recruiting promising candidates. Provide overall technical direction to the team.
Be the Aurora Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the UAS in the NAS issues. Lead technical research efforts on all aspects of UAS in the NAS integration, from policy level issues to autonomy research, to sensors and other systems involved in possible solutions.
Minimum Requirements (education and experience):
PhD with relevant experience in research involving UAS in the NAS, path planning, autonomous decision making, or other related areas. Experience with flight test operations for manned and unmanned aircraft. Ability to work in teams as well as independently; Excellent communications skills required.
