Mitra Capital LLC (Mitra) is a Boston-based equity hedge fund seeking candidates with 1-3 years of employment experience for a position on its investment team. The Analyst would join a small team focused on intensive company research and would have direct interaction with senior analysts and the portfolio manager. The fund runs a concentrated long-short equity portfolio, with a focus on predicting near-term company performance. Candidates need not have investment experience but should have a demonstrated ability and drive to succeed in a hedge fund environment. Roles & Responsibilities:
--Analyze earnings calls, SEC filings, press releases, news reports, and other sources
--Examine company disclosures and filings to predict future results
--Identify near-term risks to company performance
--Prepare research reports for consideration by other team members
--Present and defend conclusions to senior analysts and to portfolio manager
Competencies:
--Strong analytical and research skills
--Avid observer of and keen interest in human behavior and communication
--Ability to read between the lines in examining company results and outlook
--Knowledge of business strategy, operations and financial statements
--Superior problem-solving skills, attention to detail and ability to think creatively
--Ability to clearly articulate reasoned conclusions in writing and orally
--Demonstrated ability to learn rapidly
--Comfort receiving direct feedback
--Highly self-motivated and able to succeed in high-pressure environment
Qualifications & Experience:
--Bachelor's degree including coursework in business, economics, finance and other relevant subjects
--Strong academic achievement; GPA of 3.5+ strongly preferred
--One to three years of experience in investment banking, investment management, management consulting or other relevant areas
--Given qualitative focus of role, financial modeling experience not required
