SummaryAs an analyst at Planalytics, you will assist in quantitative prediction of various economic variables and their relation to weather. These variables include, but are not limited to, energy futures markets, agricultural futures markets, agricultural yield forecasts, consumer demand, and manufacturing shipments.
Responsibilities
Analyze the key predictive variables related to energy and/or agricultural futures markets with an emphasis on the impact of weather
Develop and maintain quantitative forecasting tools for energy and agricultural futures markets
Assist in development of new quantitative forecasting techniques in the retail sector
Perform consulting services as required
Potential to travel to visit clients
Qualifications
Graduate level degree in statistics, econometrics, or related field.
Experience with advanced statistical tools for determining correlations, trends, and patterns.
Experience with expectation-maximization models preferred.
Experience in data mining and/or machine learning preferred.
Knowledge of a common statistical software package required, R preferred.
Ability to describe complex processes to less technical clients
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong time management and prioritization skills.
