Position Summary
In this position the Analytical Chemist will report to a Technical Director and work within a multidisciplinary team to develop analytical methodologies for biofuel production via syngas fermentation and successfully contribute to completion of key projects and business objectives.
Job Responsibilities
Develop and document standard operating procedures and maintenance procedures for a wide range of analytical methods, including HPLC, GC, ICP, Mass Spectroscopy, FTIR and colorimetric methods
Design and execute structured experiments to identify the optimal operating windows for analytical methods
Develop calibration routines and analytical standards
Provide training and support for end-users and new installations
Maintain analytical instruments in good working conditions, perform troubleshooting and repairs as required, and achieve good accuracy in analytical results
Participate in development of raw material specifications and methods of validation
Assist in development of novel analytical technologies and applications, including on-line monitoring of process streams
Support the analytical needs of field operations, including up to 25 travel for on-site support
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Experience
B.S. or M.S. in Chemistry with more than 3 years experience in analytical chemistry
Strong knowledge of statistics and physical chemistry
Background in biochemistry, microbiology and fermentation desirable, but not required
Considerable experience in HPLC, GC, ICP, Mass Spectroscopy and FTIR
Considerable experience in Agilent Chemstation and macro programming
Considerable experience in writing Standard Operating Procedures and training end-users
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
