Gevo, Inc. is an exciting, team-oriented company that is pioneering the advanced green energy industry. We are looking
for an Analytical Chemistry Laboratory Technician, based in Englewood, Colorado. The laboratory technician will
carry out routine analytical procedures in the laboratory and deliver high quality analytical results in a timely fashion to
customers in all scientific and R&D teams. This position will also provide lab infrastructure support including, but not
limited to, stocking and organizing glassware and consumable supplies, preparing reagents and standards, as well as
maintaining gas stocks.
Requirements include:
? Bachelors degree in Chemistry or related field, or equivalent education and experience;
? 1-3 years of experience with reagents and sample preparation;
? 1-3 years of experience with data processing and excel;
? 1-3 years of experience with Chromatography (LC and/or GC);
? 1-3 years of experience with data acquisition and data analysis software;
? 1-3 years of LC/GC instrument repair experience;
? Experience with Analytical Chemistry. Additional expertise in General Chemistry or Biochemistry is a plus;
? At least 70% of experience acquired in industry is desired;
? Experience with Chromatographic data systems (i.e. Chromeleon and/or Chemstation) for data acquisition, instrument
control and data analysis;
? Experience working in a quality control lab (routinely handling large sample loads) or a research lab and an
understanding of basic quality principles;
? Ability to apply basic chromatographic theory to chromatographic method development and trouble-shooting, including
column, mobile phase and detector selection to solve analytical problems preferred;
? Method development (LC and/or GC);
? Wet chemistry, titration or organic functional group analysis;
? Experience with ASTM fuels testing methods preferred;
? Organized, with focus on attention to detail and accuracy as well as customer needs;
? Ability to prepare and deliver information in a concise, accurate and professionally written format;
? Complex problem solving skills to facilitate analysis and development of solutions;
? Ability to multi-task and handle heavy sample loads;
? Ability to work scheduled weekend days and/or scheduled evenings to meet critical business needs;
? Able to travel to support demonstration plant, commercial plants and/or tollers.
Responsibilities include:
? Responsible for understanding and following SOP?s;
? Accurately preparing reagents and standards of specified pH, ionic strength and concentration;
? Responsible for routine chemical analysis of samples including accurately and precisely preparing and analyzing
samples for GC, LC and GC-MS;
? Accurately recording all sample information and resulting data from experiments and communicating results to team;
? Ensuring that Chromatographic performance is within system suitability specs, performing basic maintenance on
instruments;
? Diligently recognizing, recording and communicating unidentified chromatographic peaks or other anomalies;
? Completing infrastructure tasks such as restocking consumables and maintaining a safe, neat and organized lab;
? Assisting with developing new methods for LC and GC and writing related SOP?s.
