We design, develop and ship all of Pelican's deliverable software products and many internal tools as well. Android Platform Software Engineer
Pelican Imaging is building the next leapfrog technology in computational imaging ? with the potential to change every camera in the world.
The Android Platform Software Engineer will work on our Android platform integration, including device driver modification, multiple Android camera framework integration, application development for test, demo, and initial products. Key desired skills include thorough experience developing with Java (Dalvik), C++, Android or Linux kernels, camera frameworks, imaging, Android debugging, and network code.
Responsibilities
You are a software technical leader who loves solving impossible problems and have worked on multiple cutting edge technology development efforts.
You are interested in making a big impact in a wide-open application landscape for our new technology of real-time depth-enabled imaging. Comfortable with multiple environments, technologies, and delivery methods, you will architect, development, and work with internal and external developers to create cutting edge corporate and customer applications.
This team delivers high-quality production software to Smartphone OEMs. You will work closely with a highly skilled, multidisciplinary team of engineers.
Requirements
? Love designing and implementing cutting edge embedded software products.
? Solid programming skills and 5-10+ years experience in C++, Java object-oriented application and SDK development.
? Significant experience with Android and other operating systems such as Linux, MacOSX, Windows.
? Aggressive application optimization experience in networking, imaging, graphics, multimedia or similar, including
multi-threaded, background I/O, and innovative Uis.
? Comfortable working at any level of abstraction from high level design on a desktop to low level tuning on an
embedded processor.
? Passion for solving problems and identifying new ones to solve next.
Desirable
? Objective-C and iOS experience
? Experience with one or more server-side web development technologies, especially including Java, Javascript,
Python, or Ruby.
? Experience with one or more desktop UI frameworks / environments, particularly Qt or Java.
? Expertise with digital cameras, camera processing pipelines and image quality fundamentals and metrics
? Experience shipping smartphone, desktop, and server applications.
? Imaging, 3D, machine vision, AI, advanced math, and related experience a plus
