Animal Pharmacologist Endocyte
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED Endocyte is seeking a detail oriented and professional Animal Pharmacologist to support the biology department by conducting non-arthritic inflammatory disease state studies to determine efficacy, pharmacokinetics, and toxicity for folate-drug conjugates. The incumbent evaluates new animal models of autoimmune and inflammatory disorders, maintains cell lines, and performs basic in-vitro drug screening tests.
As an Animal Pharmacologist with Endocyte, you will be responsible for the following tasks:
Plans and conducts animal testing on assigned non-arthritic inflammatory disease state studies. Establishes timelines, needs, and processes to be used
Orders mice and maintains them on proper diets
Coordinates drug sample needs with discovery chemist
Performs oral, IV, IP, SQ, and ID injections plus blood/sample collection along with scheduled observation of test animals? health including weight during study
Utilizes mouse anesthesia and aseptic surgery and utilizes radioactive compounds.
Performs animal necropsy and specimen collection
Documents laboratory activities and maintains laboratory notebook. This notebook is numbered, signed out, and is part of Corporate record retention guidelines. This documentation includes identity of materials tested, animals, equipment, and methodology used, testing results, and name and date
Ships collected specimens, when appropriate, to contract pathologist, provides follow up, and receives results
Performs appropriate analysis of the data, presents results to the team, and provides management with final report
Maintains cell lines and performs basic in-vitro drug screen tests (e.g., XTT, TNF-a, etc.)
Performs in-vitro tests evaluating the basic characteristics and relative affinity attributes of cell lines
Documents evaluation methods and results in the laboratory notebook, performs appropriate analysis of the data and presents results to the team and management
Reviews and evaluates publishes literature, internet, and conference proceedings for new animal models and laboratory methods relative to the disease states of interest to the Corporation and/or for applicability to the models and methods utilized by the team
Shares appropriate information found with the discovery, biology, and toxicology teams and management
Other responsibilities include:
Participates in conducting bio-distribution studies in animal models
Collaborates with the biology and toxicology teams in the maintenance and updating of animal care protocols used at the animal care facility
Follows Company/departmental policies, procedures and SOPs
Special projects as requested
As an Animal Pharmacologist with Endocyte, you must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as organizational skills.
Additional requirements for the Research Associate include:
BS/MS in Life Sciences
Demonstrated ability to work with and handle laboratory animals
Demonstrated knowledge of lab animal science guidelines / laws and welfare laws
Technical knowledge of cell culture, molecular biology and biochemistry techniques
Excellent oral communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively with associates
