Appeals Support Analyst Medical Present Value

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The MARU Appeals Support Analyst will provide a broad range of services in support of MPV Appeals and Recovery Unit and special projects as requested.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to Manager, MPV Appeals and Recoveries.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provide support for appeals and projects within the Appeals and Recovery Unit.
Retrieve, open, sort and document correspondence/mail.
Prepare outgoing appeals and project.
Perform appeal follow up.
Perform other appeal related duties and miscellaneous projects as requested by the MARU Manager.
EDUCATION:
Bachelors degree or greater in related field, or equivalent education and experience.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of three years experience in the healthcare industry in the appeals area and/or administrative environment. Medical Collections background is a plus.
Experience in a production environment desirable but comfort in such an environment is essential.
Experience with digital office equipment, including scanners and fax machines.
KNOWLEDGE:
Advanced PC skills, with proficiency in utilizing Microsoft office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
Must be project oriented and have the able to handle multiple tasks, take initiative and prioritize.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent telephone manner and interpersonal skills.
Strong data entry typing skills.
SKILLS:
Strong attention to detail and accuracy required.
Strong skills in database platforms (Excel, Access, etc.).
Works well in a team oriented structure to achieve goals.
ABILITIES:
Ability to work effectively with other departments and management.
Ability to learn the MPV Contract Management application.
Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems and to recognize patterns in data.
Ability to learn, understand and use the Contract Management application.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
Ability to operate a variety of standard office machines, including a personal computer and a variety of computer software, phone, fax, and photocopy machine.
Ability to embrace change and be flexible.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:
Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office work environment.
ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normal busy office environment.
Occasional evening or weekend work.
