The Application Development Manager is responsible for the delivery of Client Services project implementations and personnel management for multiple project teams of application developers.
The primary responsibility of this role is to provide leadership to the technical leads and development team for multiple projects. This includes timely delivery of design and technical documentation, project estimations, schedules, and software.
The Application Development Manager will report to a Director of Client Services or VP of Client Services and manage multiple clients. The Application Development Manager will work closely with multiple Managers, Technical Leads and Lead Business Analysts. The Application Development Manager will be a major contributor in the overall success of the project including client satisfaction.
The Application Development Manager must have served as a Technical Lead for Connecture within Client Services or Product Engineering. Candidates must have extensive experience in implementing all phases of Connecture?s software development life cycle (SDLC) including: design specifications, solution development, technical infrastructure, testing of client applications, and training. Integration experience a major plus! The Application Development Manager will be responsible for managing technical leads and application developer resources that will be allocated across multiple projects working to meet project deadlines. These resources must adhere to Connecture?s standard methodology while ensuring the product software standards are not compromised.
The Application Development Manager can expect 20% travel to the Atlanta, GA, Waukesha, WI and/or Farmington, CT offices for those team members working with cross-located project teams. Also, travel to support the project teams at customer locations will also be required.
Roles and Responsibilities
The essential responsibilities of the Application Developer Manager are to:
Solution Development and Delivery:
? Provides technical direction for multiple client engagements from design through implementation
? Applies significant knowledge of Connecture?s products and software development practices to improve service to our clients
? Keeps manager/director well informed of status of development effort and serves as liaison between development staff and project management
? Easily recognizes system deficiencies and implements effective solutions
? Leverages economies of scale for technology solutions and best practices across multiple clients
? Responsible for accurate development estimates for project work for, SOW creation, work orders and change orders
? Responsible for maintaining customer satisfaction, including ongoing support of customer issues; interfacing with customers and driving critical issues to resolution on a timely basis
Technical Effort Management:
? Creates and executes development plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
? Manages the tech lead(s) to own the development lifecycle on a client engagement and is responsible for managing all technical aspects throughout the project including performance, quality, and risk
? Communicates and enforces coding standards
? Performs code reviews and mentors developers and technical leads
? Ensure the developers consistently deliver high-quality services to our clients
? Integration experience a major plus!
? Facilitates team and client meetings with IT staff effectively
? Keeps development team well informed of changes within the organization and corporate news
? Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully
? Able to fill in for a Client Services Manager when needed
? Collaborate with QA to resolve bugs, performance issues, and gaps in requirements
? Collaborate with other development teams to ensure full integration of all parts of system.
? Manages client interaction and expectations regarding development efforts
? Manage development resources ? coordinate administration of project reviews, annual reviews, and employee promotion and compensation
? Bachelor's degree (CS, EE, or Math preferred) or equivalent work experience
? 8+ years experience in Java, J2EE technologies and strong exposure to frameworks like Struts, Spring, Hibernate or their equivalents
? 4+ years of Connecture technical leadership experience
? Software configuration management with tools such as CVS, Subversion
? Software development in integration technologies on XML exchange over HTTP(s)
? WebServices development on Apache-CXF, AJAX, JSON interfaces
? Experience in creating sustainable, quality, and efficient software
? Demonstrates leadership ability in all assignments, is able to work independently with little supervision
? Extensive knowledge in software design standards and patterns and overall software architecture
? Develops and implements new methodologies and analyses to drive actionable results
? Effectively prioritizes opportunities and develops strategies/plans to achieve corporate objectives
? Gathers, shares and applies best practice data and trend information
? Demonstrates excellent analytical and problem solving skills
? Interpret data quickly and elevate potential issues to appropriate strategies, solutions or escalation processes
? Exceptional interpersonal skills and can operate successfully within cross-functional teams at all levels of the company
? Strong oral, written and formal presentation skills including ability to communicate complex ideas in a simple way
? Excellent influencing skills at all levels and ability to develop and maintain good relationships
? Ability to travel 20-25%
