Application Performance Engineering Consultant (APEC) Shunra Software
Shunra Software has an opening for the role of Performance Engineering Consultant who will be responsible for application performance engineering services as part of a customer's application development life cycle and / or performance testing practices.
This person will assist customers with mitigation of the performance risks from large scale IT projects or distributed deployments (global or nationwide) of applications. This candidate should possess critical thinking skills for performance analysis, discovery and simulation of real-world performance conditions, performance test execution (manual and automated), performance analysis, bottleneck identification and remediation.
The role requires expertise in performance testing methodology, infrastructure engineering and performance-related issues such as migration planning & troubleshooting, disaster recovery, application security, directory services, networking, and system performance tuning.
Generalist knowledge in all aspects of performance project scoping and test plan design will be required including an independent outcomes-based approach to project execution. The candidate will be required to scope testing projects, manage them, and deliver results.
The candidate will be expected to demonstrate and give examples of their ability to function and contribute to a team-oriented environment both onsite at the customer's location and also remotely from offsite locations. This candidate will act as a resource to customers' various testing and operations organizations and will provide on-going consulting for planning, deployment, change control and migration issues; may be responsible for Shunra workshops & training for customer's existing performance engineering staff. The candidate will also be responsible for identifying client related issues and assisting customers in finding the proper resources. Excellence in written technical documentation is expected. Reports to the Director of Professional Services, Delivery.
To provide high quality technical consulting services in regards to application performance engineering to Shunra customers.
Design performance testing scenarios for various types of test objectives and enable diverse types of performance analysis.
Deliver timely and high quality performance remediation focusing on root cause analysis, prevention, and knowledge transfer.
Utilize knowledge of the customer's technical environment to resolve issues in a timely manner.
Manage escalations and sub-cases with customers and Shunra to ensure timely and high quality resolution of all issues.
Develop and implement strategies for providing proactive services resulting in fewer incidents, increased availability, or accelerated deployments.
Develop relationships with technical directors or lead architects for the technology you support resulting in more participation in planning and improved satisfaction with consulting services.
Partner with the Shunra Account Manager to effectively manage critical situations including documented action plans and daily status updates for the customer and Shunra management.
Develop a working relationship with other Shunra consulting and field staff at your accounts that results in enhanced cooperation and mutual support in achieving each other's goals.
Execute formal post-mortem process on closure of critical issues or escalations.
Initiate and participate in triage meetings to share knowledge with other engineers and to efficiently resolve customer problems.
Assist with delivery of product and services reviews for your customers.
Write technical articles for the Shunra knowledge base, blogs and white papers.
4 year technical degree or equivalent work experience, plus minimum 5 yrs experience in system performance engineering testing, diagnostics or optimization in an Enterprise environment.
Demonstrated technical competence with performance testing tools such as HP LoadRunner, Borland Performer, Microsoft Visual Studio TEST or equivalent open source tools.
Good working knowledge of distributed system architectures, network architectures and distributed transaction processing.
Strong technical writing skills and familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Visio.
Ability to effectively communicate with customer managers and executives on technical and business issues.
Strong organization, time management, project management, and negotiation skills.
The position will require travel to customer sites 80% or more.
