The Application Platform Engineer (APE) is part of a dedicated team that provides mission critical support to client facing application platforms. The APE will be responsible for the day to day installation / deployment / configuration / testing / maintenance / and troubleshooting of all designated client/3rd party applications operated from a Layered Tech facility. The APE will provide Tier II/III support for the application platforms while interfacing directly with applicable client development and customer deployment teams. In addition the APE will interface with Layered Tech Service Desk and other operational groups as they provide contracted support for the underlying infrastructure, operating systems, and network and compliance services.

Support client applications and tools (e.g. installation, deployment, configuration, testing, maintenance and troubleshooting) via ticket system
Support future applications that will be installed as part of the application platform
Windows and Linux application configuration support as needed to support applications (this is not full OS administration)
Application data gathering
Data prepping for loading into client applications, databases, etc.
Application testing for new deployments
Application health and performance monitoring
Application problem isolation and debugging, working with client development team when necessary
Application operations documentation creation and ongoing maintenance of that documentation
First point of escalation for LT Service Desk personnel for application related issues/tickets
Act as liaison between Layered Tech and client dev/support groups as it relates to application issues/maintenance
Provide consultation with Layered Tech support groups related to application platform needs
This is an on-call position

Must be able to respond to an application crisis on a 24x7 basis when on-call
Must be able to perform analysis and identify trends relating to client applications
Ensure client application related knowledge base, wiki, docs, etc. are constantly updated with new material as it is learned from the clients

Ability to multi-task application related activities
Ability to prioritize workload with minimal supervision
Hands on experience with Linux operating systems, including but not limited to Red Hat 6
Hands on experience with Windows server platforms
Excellent verbal, written and analytical skills
Strong analytical, diagnostic, problem solving and communication skills
Experience with SQL or Cache databases is a plus
Basic networking knowledge is a plus
Common web server support (IIS, Apache, etc)
Education / Experience

IT related degree or 3 years related experience or a combination of both
Current/Active Certification or previous network and systems experience or associated fields
