WHAT WE WANT YOU TO DO:
Monitor the availability and health of the infrastructure and applications across multiple datacenters
Support Open Source monitoring infrastructure based on VMware Hyperic system for all business units
Identify possible issues, troubleshoot, and escalate to the appropriate technical teams
Provide 1st and 2nd level tier support during production outages, maintenances, and CCMs
Minimize portal outages by; identifying faulty servers within the pool, failing over to a secondary backend, or uploading maintenance holding page to minimize customer impact
Perform initial triage on website issues
Communicate critical outages to internal business units and upper management as needed
Document and ticket issues as they arise during shift
WHY WE WANT YOU:
Ability to work Third shift (11pm-7am)
Perl or Shell scripting/programming
Proficient use of Performance Management and metrics collection tools such as Hyperic, Nagios, Zenoss, Cacti, Citrix XenCenter, Sitescope, or similar solutions
Understanding of networking, monitoring, distributed systems, web applications and server technologies
Understanding of major Operation Platforms (Unix, Linux)
JIRA or other trouble ticketing application experience is a big plus
Solid problem diagnosis, troubleshooting, and problem solving
Flexibility to work in a 24/7 shift setting? (weekends, nights, holidays)
Provide coverage outside scheduled work hours, attend off shift meetings, and training as needed. No exceptions
High level of attention to detail
Must be personable, professional, and proactive
WHAT GETS US EXCITED:
Experience implementing monitoring requests Hyperic or other agent based systems
1+ years systems operations (SOC) or datacenter experience preferred
Experience working with and administration of web server technologies (e.g. Apache, Tomcat, Lighty)
Understanding of major relational databases (e.g. Oracle, Postgress, MySQL)
