BACKGROUND
Placemark Investments is an investment advisory firm registered with the Securities and Exchange
Commission. The company is privately held, with 71 employees located in offices in Dallas, Texas
and Wellesley, Massachusetts. Placemark develops, implements, and supports wealth solutions,
including Unified Managed Account platforms and retirement solutions for broker/dealers,
registered investment advisors, banks, and family offices. As the separate account industry?s
leading independent overlay portfolio manager, Placemark coordinates multiple investment
vehicles such as separately managed accounts, mutual funds, and ETFs into a single customized
UMA portfolio

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Back-Office Application Support Specialist position is primarily responsible for providing Tier 3 technical
support for our external facing sites, as well as supporting Placemark's proprietary application "PUMA" and
its internal users. The Support Specialist does problem analysis using various Linux based tools, by mining
through text files and database tables, and by reading relevant software code to determine resolutions to
customer issues. Primary interaction with users will be via a help desk ticketing system, face-to-face
discussions, phone and email. Excellent communications and customer service skills required. The ability to
prioritize is a must.
The right candidate in this role is one who personally connects and identifies with their work, has the ability

technically astute, and has fantastic verbal and written communication skills.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
? System Support
o Provide tier 3 technical support to our customer service group for Placemark's external facing
websites and applications. o Provide tier 1-3 technical support to our internal client base for Placemark's PUMA application.
o Recommend design/functional changes to improve usability and enhance user experience.
o Record all client interaction in our help desk ticketing system.
o Develop technical notes and FAQ's for internal publication.
o QA & Testing
o Work with development team to ensure code is of high quality and delivered on time.
o To ensure supportability of application changes/enhancements
? Software Maintenance
o Provide and recommend patches/bug fixes for the existing code base.
o Provide improvement recommendations for the existing code.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CAPABILITIES
? Minimum of 2 years working in a Linux or Unix environment
? Minimum of 2 years of integrated systems experience through an operations or implementations
environment.
? Strong knowledge of UNIX/Linux file and directory structures and their related search tools.
? Strong knowledge of HTML and JavaScript.
? Basic knowledge of Tcl/Tk, Perl, or PHP scripting languages(experience in multiple languages a plus).
? Basic knowledge of ANSI-Compliant SQL and relational database concepts.
? Experience with any of jQuery, DHTMLX, Oracle, CVS, Git, AOLserver or Java is a plus.
