Application Systems Administrator Job Description Silverlink Communications
The Application Systems Administrator is responsible for supporting the configuration management
phases of the System Development Lifecycle. This individual will work as a member of a release team
that is responsible for delivering defect free software and system upgrades to the Production environment
in a consistent and repeatable manner. This position will also be tasked with deploying and managing the
physical and virtual infrastructure to support the release process.
POSITION SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILTIES:
? Create and validate test environments to support the SDLC.
? Install and smoke test new software packages delivered from the Engineering Department.
? Partner with quality assurance, software development, project management and operations team
members to coordinate multiple software release or system upgrade projects.
? Provide critical input to system standard development and documentation.
? Perform system upgrades during off-hours maintenance windows.
? Participate in on-call support rotation
? Demonstrated experience deploying complex systems in a medium sized VmWare environment.
? Sufficient network configuration and storage management skills to support VmWare initiatives
? Solid understanding of Windows server operating systems and supporting services.
? Knowledge of ColdFusion, IIS, Apache, and general web server technology.
? Familiarity with SQL and Java applications.
? Experience with Linux / BASH or similar scripting
? Bachelor?s degree Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
? Experience with a variety of SDLC methodologies.
? Strong grasp of information security and compliance regulations.
? Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
? Motivated by continuous learning and development.
? Desire to take ownership of a problem and see it through to resolution.
