Applications Engineer - BLU QD Vision
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED QD Vision provides Color IQ? integrated optical components containing semiconductor nano materials called quantum dots as a remote luminescent product for back light units (BLUs) and other applications in illumination. Quantum Dots provide many advantages over phosphor-coated LEDs enabling precise spectral engineering, broad color gamut, high system energy efficiency and simple system integration.
This applications engineering role (based at QDV Lexington) focuses on supporting commercial engagement and the customer design in process, followed by providing ongoing technical support post-commercial launch.
You will work with QD Vision?s Business Development, Engineering, Operations and third parties to make recommendations, resolve design integration questions, facilitate clear communication and help QDV and customers finalize and support high performance solutions for LED-based LCD BLU applications. This will mean working with our customers? engineering and manufacturing operations (or their CM?s operations) to identify and resolve any product performance or integration issues including early stage prototype and subsequent engineering development samples all the way through production product.
You will also have a leading role in managing and supporting technical communications with QDV customers, including analyzing and recording incoming and outgoing customer sample data and customer feedback on samples and production products. You will also interact with and support other QDV employees including field-based applications engineering team member as may be needed to provide complete customer support. This role may include periodic travel to customer and third party sites.
As a key member of the Business Development team, you will also be expected to take part in customer meetings as may be needed, create application notes, help manage product demo hardware, participate occasionally in trade shows and other promotional activities.
U.S. citizenship or permanent residency status
BSEE, BSME, or BS Physics, advanced degree in with optics experience preferred
5+ years relevant experience in engineering, development or customer applications support
Knowledge of display optical systems, especially LCD BLUs, experience with LEDs is a plus
Ability to communicate clearly between customers and QD Vision Business Development and Engineering teams
Proven analytical and problem solving skills
Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
Demonstrated ability to work independently
Strong track record providing customer support in a cross cultural environment
Experience in manufacturing is a plus
Foreign language capability is not required, but is a strong plus, especially if in Japanese, Mandarin or Korean
