Brief DescriptionThe Network Consultant is responsible for pre-sales technical support for the IPITEK sales force and for selected customers, respectively. This will include but not limited to keeping in close contact with strategic customers, Product Line Management, and Business Development. In particular, this position will focus attention and support on the HBR2500, and MSP family of Video Centric products based on open architectures.
Responsibilities
Conceptual studies of (future) network architectures and functionalities
Network calculations: network planning, routing of multiple services through given network architectures, quantity structures with respect to equipment needed
Specification functionalities of future releases, interface between customers and Strategic Product Development
Support of strategic customers: general technical consulting, network optimization, network planning
Business cases, e.g. IPITEK solutions vs. competitive or alternate solutions
Competitors and market analysis Training: Give technical training on network concepts, competitors, and customers' requirements to sales, PLM, and where appropriate, to R&D. Also product training (architecture review) to customers, channel partners and service providers
Requirements
In-depth knowledge of SONET / SDH, 10GigE, and IP protocols and technology, switches and routers as well as knowledge of WDM-based networks and Video / data-centric networks / LANs (IP, SONET/ SDH) beneficial.
Minimum of 5 years experience with network providers, data center, or telecom / router equipment suppliers,
Strong Ethernet layer 2 and layer 3 knowledge including router configurations (Juniper, Cisco core router experience beneficial).
Strong Communication skills, both spoken and written
Strong math skills beneficial for network design calculations
Readiness to travel. Strong ability for self sufficiency, work's well with sales persons and ability to work in busy office setting.
College Degree in math or science field (engineering preferred).
