Applications Engineering Manager Tilera

The leader of Tilera?s Applications engineering team will manage a team of software engineers developing and maintaining domain-specific application components to enable customer engagements and speed their time to market. We?re looking for a hands-on technical manager who will work with Marketing to specify and define application components, provide technical leadership to the development engineers, work with the outbound team to make customers successful, and collaborate with other engineering functions (i.e. software, IC engineering, SQA, etc.) to build and deliver effective, high performance, high quality application components in a timely way.

Location:Westborough, MA or San Jose, CA
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

Defining and managing the goals/ objectives of the global applications engineering team in relation to specific requirements of Tilera?s market segments.
Including remote management responsibilities for teams located across three different locations.
Aid in definition of new product development specification.
Work closely with marketing on strategic technology and product roadmaps.
Develop strategies for ecosystem cooperation in partnership with marketing and sales.
Establish feedback mechanisms from customers, prospects, and partners to the marketing and sales departments.
Recruit world class engineering talent and coach and mentor the applications engineering team to develop their skill and knowledge of Tilera?s product lines, as well as of Pre-sales and Post-Sales business development and support techniques.
Establish and maintain processes that generate strong customer satisfaction with emphasis on timely resolution of complex technical issues.
Domestic and international travel as required to Tilera sites, customer sites and trade shows (US, Europe, Asia).

Requirements:

10+ years? experience in software development and support, especially in areas relevant to Tilera?s markets, including networking and digital media applications, and/or cloud and web infrastructure.
Highly desirable is experience with high-performance architectures, such as parallel processors, including performance tuning and benchmarking.
A strong track record as a team leader and manager, with several years? experience leading teams of senior engineers to deliver ambitious projects using advanced technology in a timely and efficient way. Demonstrated skills include people management, schedule development, technical communication both written and spoken, and the ability to manage cross functional, global teams.
An effective team player who can productively work with other functions, including other teams within the engineering organization, marketing, sales, customers, etc., to provide a compelling solution.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to translate technical concepts to a non-technical and non-native English speaking audience.
Experience with global teams and customers and ability to seamlessly work across different cultures and time zones.
Confidence and ability to speak authoritatively on technical and business issues in front of executive managers on both the customer and internal sides
A drive to succeed and meet goals.
Proven ability to lead by example with the capacity to scale and motivate team members
Previous start-up experience preferred
BS/MS in Computer Science or Engineering.
