Our expanding Biology group is seeking an innovative and experienced scientist to join a cross-functional team dedicated to developing metabolic assays and kit products to achieve significant commercial outcomes.
Position Summary
As an Applications Scientist, you will provide scientific/technical leadership to the assay and kit product development process. You will drive assay and kit product development, identify new opportunities for productive research, foster external collaborations, and present at scientific conferences. This dynamic position will offer a cross functional team-oriented working environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide scientific and technical leadership in driving new assay product development in a cross-functional team
Independently design, plan and conduct laboratory experiments in support of new assay and product development
Prepare or contribute to technical documents, product manuals, and protocols
Interface and collaborate with customers and thought leaders in assay and product development
Interface and collaborate with engineering team to contribute to assay-specific software for the XF analyzer
Prepare manufacturing specifications and QC protocols and transfer them to Manufacturing
Attend and present at scientific conferences and trade shows to showcase products and generated research data; acquire new product and collaboration opportunities
Qualifications:
Ph.D. in biology or biochemistry, or a life science discipline PLUS 2-5 years' experience in research and/or product development
Hands-on experience and a history of success in designing and developing a project resulting in a new cell-based assay product-in a commercial setting
Excellent experimental skills and enjoys conducting experiments on the bench
Experience and knowledge in cellular metabolism and/or mitochondrial bioenergetics is strongly preferred
Knowledge of the product development process and industry experience is preferred
Strong oral and written communication skills
Other requirements:
Ability to work at lab bench or laminar flow hood for extended period of time
Ability to wear protection gear (gloves, lab coat, safety glasses, etc.).
