The Engineering team at Marin Software is tasked with delivering this platform. Technical challenges range from computation-intensive analytic systems, to message queuing, to web API integration, to machine learning and bid optimization algorithms. Organized by functional areas, our full-time engineers are typically depth-heavy in their respective team's focus.
The Applied Research Engineer is highly visible position focused on algorithmic development and implementation, leveraging the wealth of Marin's data in order to create predictive models. Navigating the complex and volatile landscape of search engine data provides many exciting challenges, and the ideal candidate will be able to attack these challenges from a variety of angles in the course of taking Marin's optimization and prediction algorithms to the next level.
Responsibilities:
- Maintaining/improving Marin's existing optimization and forecasting algorithms
- Developing and validating new predictive models based on large data
- Collaborating with Product to ensure client optimization needs are addressed
- Implementing your models in Java
Requirements:
- MS/PhD in CS, Applied Mathematics, or Statistics with a strong math background.
- Fluency in Java or another object oriented language
- Experience applying machine-learning algorithms to real-world data
- Knowledge of stochastic modeling
- Experience with large scale optimization techniques (stochastic, convex, dual)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong Candidates Will Have
- An enthusiasm for multi-disciplinary approaches to modeling complex problems
- Familiarity with Monte Carlo methods and boostrapping/bagging techniques
- Familiarity with time-series models
- A passion for extraction information from a large data set
- A high sense of urgency and desire for success
- A can-do attitude
Compensation
This is an on-site, full time salaried position located in the financial district of San Francisco, (one block from Bart station). Marin Software pays market-leading compensation based on prior experience.
