Position will be responsible for the technical review of income producing commercial real estate appraisals nationally. Perform appraisal reviews for validity and reliability prior to their use in consideration of collateral dependent lending decisions by senior management. This is a ground floor opportunity available in high growth division of an established bank.
? Responsibilities of the appraisal review will include a thorough analysis of the appraisal report for accuracy, reasonable assumptions, supportable conclusions, appropriate technical analysis, current market conditions, and ensures compliance with USPAP and FIRREA regulations/requirements.
? Conduct interviews in multiple markets to confirm data collected by third parties.
? Perform ad hoc market research projects.
? Occasional travel required for property site inspections for internal purposes.
? Work well in a fast paced commercial mortgage production environment.
? Review narrative commercial appraisals together with other provided documentation for consistency.
? Review environmental assessments for possible issues relating to loan collateral.
? Ensure quality, timely and cost effective valuation products.
? Provide initial and on-going training of all aspects of the job, if needed.
? Qualify external third party appraisers nationally for approved appraiser list, when needed.
? Assist with the engagement of external third party reports (appraisals, environmental assessments, site inspections, etc.), when needed
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skill and Abilities Requirements)
? State Certified General Appraiser license
? Commercial real estate appraisal experience in both traditional and/or investment bank environments
? Time management skills ? ability to manage multiple priorities and clients at the same time
? Ability to assess the stability of a property?s income and the stability of a property?s value, relative to its market.
? Ability to think independently to address issues relating to the appraisal, and make sound recommendations to superiors as they relate to risk.
? Ability to effectively analyze various commercial income property types in multiple markets.
? Ability to communicate business conclusions verbally and in writing.
Training and Experience
? Bachelors degree
? Minimum 3-5 years experience in commercial real estate appraisal and/or underwriting for or with banks.
? Experience as an in-house commercial review appraiser within the commercial mortgage industry is preferred.
? Knowledge of the RIMS vendor/project management software is a plus.
