Art Department Intern Telltale Games
On a given project, the Art Department Intern will be responsible for the generation of texturing, concepting, and overall art support in partnership with the Art Directors, Concept Artists, Environment Artists, and Character Modelers to ?fill in the gaps? as needed for the Art department. Executing tasks in a timely manner and crafting excellent artwork will be your key to success!
The ideal candidate understands how traditional illustration and painting skills apply in a narrative-based game and wants to gain valuable experience texture painting and concepting in a video game art production with an established Art team and award-winning studio!
This is a 6-month internship with the possibility of extension or hire.
Provide general support for the Art department as directed in a timely manner
Create textures and concepts for various art styles ranging from stylized realism to cartoony
Work closely with the Art Directors and environment art team to provide hand-painted textures for 3D models, characters, environments, and props
Work within constraints set by the technology (texture sizes, transparency limitations, etc.)
Strong ability to create hand-painted textures from scratch through completion
An excellent understanding of color theory and lighting, and an affinity for texturing characters and props as well as architectural and natural environment elements
Excellent drawing and traditional painting skills a must
Expert knowledge of Photoshop
Ability to collaborate and bring creativity to a team of artists
Ability to work quickly and efficiently under tight deadlines
Degree or education in illustration or fine art preferred
Strong working knowledge of polygonal texturing and UV layout
Experience with Maya
Full understanding of texture map properties in relation to their shading and lighting qualities
Previous experience in video game art creation
Strong passion for games
