The role of the Assembly Technician is important to DSC?s Manufacturing organization and requires an individual with solid comprehension and capabilities in the build, test, and diagnosis of electro-mechanical and optical assemblies. The technician also inspects circuit boards to verify surface mount components with related documentation, troubleshoots (at times down to the component level), performs rework to meet requirements, and take part in final inspections.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Electronic chassis wiring and cable fabrication according to specifications
The building of subassemblies using both hand and power tools.
Testing and troubleshooting of sub and final assemblies
Assembly and test of both sub-assembly & final products.
Assembly of harnesses with the use of hand tools.
Read and interpret electronic schematics and wiring diagrams
Read and interpret circuit board assembly diagrams for the purpose of populating PCBs
High School degree/technical school
At least 3 years of experience in the field.
Circuit Card Assembly & SMT rework skills
Proficiency in both leaded and lead-free solder processes
Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and mechanical drawings
Proficient at working both independently and with a team
Experience working in a fast paced, constantly expanding and changing environment
Good organization, multi-tasking, communication, time management, and documentation skills
Basic metal working/ machine shop skills (Drill, Tap hole cutting, etc.)
Experience soldering surface mount components (0402, 0603 type sizes)
Experience with military crimp connectors (i.e. 38999 series III and associated tooling)
Ability to frequently sit, reach within hands and arms length, climb or balance, and crouch. Ability to use office equipment such as PC.
Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision to regularly work with microscopes.
Manual dexterity required to regularly work with small hand tools.
Must be able to work in a warehouse environment (standing work, be able to lift 30lbs+, and perform physical tasks in hot/cold temperatures)
Individual?s primary workstation is located in the manufacturing/lab area.
