Brightside Academy is hiring for the summer!!! We are looking for enthusiastic and energetic individuals to join our team for our Summer Camp Program. The Assistant and Lead Teachers provide and maintain a positive and appropriate educational program that meets the social, emotional, physical and intellectual needs of the children within their care.
Our exclusive Camp Discovery program offers full day, fun-based, educational programs all summer long. We engage children with six unique curriculum themes within our summer camp program:
Culture, diversity and geography
Theater, dance and music
Health, fitness and sports
Art, architecture and sculptures
Science, technology and environmental education
Animals, garden and nature
Camp Discovery also includes theme-based field trips to local areas of interest including museums and cultural venues, farms, and more.
Essential Duties: Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
I. Program Quality
Maintains constant supervision of classroom children at all times.
Interacts with the children and encourages their involvement in classroom experiences.
Accompanies children and staff on field trips.
Provides and maintains a safe, caring, and welcoming classroom that is kept orderly, clean, and appealing.
Understands and is mindful of how personal appearances, dress, use of body language and tone of voice impact the environment, and how staff, children and families engage.
Plans, implements, and evaluates the educational environment and programming of their assigned age group/classroom(s). This includes but is not limited to:
Maintaining child attendance and educational records/files.
Completing classroom planning documents on a weekly basis.
Preparing the environment and materials in accordance with Weekly Planning Forms.
Implementing age-, developmentally-, and culturally-appropriate classroom activities and experiences for the children.
Completing formal and informal child and classroom assessments and progress reports, per required timeframes.
Actively participates in and maintains their classroom ?Response to Intervention? process. The Brightside Academy ?Response to Intervention? process works to ensure successful outcomes for all children and families who experience our programs. This includes, but is not limited to:
Maintaining all classroom Response to Intervention documentation and reports.
Respecting and following the established response to Intervention process, including child referral, intervention planning and implementation, child and classroom assessment, and parent communication.
Being sensitive to individual children?s differences and needs, and being willing to adjust the program, curriculum, and/or environment to meet those needs.
Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
Motivates classroom colleagues by maintaining a positive attitude and leading by example.
Is willing to work in a team environment; is willing to share ideas and be open to other?s; is flexible and willing to compromise.
Assists in the creation of a positive enjoyable work environment.
All other duties as assigned.
The primary focus of the Assistant and Lead Teachers is the provision of high quality programming within their assigned classroom. High quality classroom programming must include a triangulated framework of family-centered practices; developmentally, individually, and culturally appropriate practices and intentional teaching; and program support. An effective classroom Teacher must have the following education, experience, and abilities:
Child Development Associate (CDA), or attending school to attain Associates? degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or related field (child development, special education, elementary education, or human service).
Associates? degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or related field (child development, special education, elementary education, or human service field with 30 ECE credits); or a Bachelors? degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or related field (child development, special education, elementary education, or human service field).
Certified in First Aid, CPR, and Mandated Reporting.
Current and approved tuberculosis test results.
Ability to pass a thorough criminal background check and drug screening.
Demonstrated communication skills, including expressive (written and oral) as well as receptive skills.
Has the physical capability to:
Frequently lift or move weight as in lifting, carrying or holding children up to 60lbs
Repetitively bend, stretch and stoop
Work with children on the floor
Work outdoors in a variety of weather
Fully maintain sight and sound child supervision
Perform light cleaning duties
