THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED Relay Foods seeks an Assistant City Manager to join the Operations team working from its Fulfillment Center in Charlottesville, VA.
The Assistant City Manager is the second most senior position in a city. This individual is responsible for running the daily duties of Relay?s market to ensure customers receive high-quality orders every day. The Assistant City Manager is expected to drive continuous improvement of processes, manage relationships, and motivate the operations team to focus on perfecting every small detail of orders shipped each day
This position requires a problem-solver who can juggle improving the big picture of Relay's suppliers while simultaneously ensuring that the team is focused on making sure the details of inventory count, pricing, and other small details are near-perfect.
As the Assistant City Manager you will:
Recruit, select, orient, train, coach and counsel operations staff.
Communicate values, strategies, and objectives effectively; assign accountabilities; plan and assess job results and performance; develop and implement incentives; ensure an environment of open communication and sharing of opinions; and provide educational opportunities.
Identify and eliminate obstacles impeding outstanding service.
Ensure customers are served well each and every day.
Build and maintain the company?s image by collaborating with customers, government, community organizations, and employees.
Lead process improvement changes to remove barriers and allow maximum productivity for the team.
Work with the City Manager/Senior Vice President of Operations to ensure the facility meets and maintains regulatory compliance requirements.
Implement an environment of continuous improvement ? find bottlenecks and correct them, increase efficiency, and minimize exceptions in orders.
Coordinating with the city?s sales management to increase sales by selecting and growing pickup locations within the market locality.
Consult in the selection of local vendors and inventory items to meet market-specific demand.
Maintain and implement key HR, Accounting and IT policies with the operations team.
Bachelor's degree and 4+ years background in operations and distribution
High proficiency with Microsoft Excel, along with ability to quickly learn new IT systems and processes
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Self-motivated, flexible and analytical thinker with experience leading teams
Ability to analyze existing systems, quickly test and implement solutions, and confidently articulate the changes to leadership team
A passion for and interest in food
