Job Description
The Assistant Controller is responsible for the day-to-day execution of the company?s global accounting operations. The ideal candidate will have 5-9 years of experience in Accounting, with at least 2 years of managerial experience. Bachelor?s degree in Accounting is required, and CPA is strongly preferred. Previous experience leading an Accounting team is required.
The successful applicant must have outstanding accounting operations experience. That will include but not be limited to the following: experience developing and maintaining accounting process and controls, resolving complex financial issues, using and leveraging IT systems and preparing multi-entity consolidations. Software industry experience will be highly preferred, but not essential.
Applicant must be a self-starter, adaptive, demonstrate the ability to work collectively within a team environment, leading, challenging and coaching team members in a constructive and developmental framework, possesses strong analytical skills, maintain a penchant for efficiency with accuracy, possess strong communication skills, and operate well within a fast-paced culture.

Duties
Preparing and maintaining the general ledger, payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and treasury (including banking relations and bank account reconciliation); ensuring that financial statements are GAAP compliant as well as compliant with local standards of foreign subsidiaries
Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual reporting (internal and external),including the issuance of audited financial statements locally and to comply with foreign statutory requirements
Having ownership of global financial systems and processes, designed for a growing global business
Being the financial lead for customer billing, cash collections, and customer financial compliance
Being the primary relationship interface with external auditors and tax professionals
Supervising accounting staff to execute on financial goals and financial team initiatives
Managing and building the accounting team
Adhering to all BigMachines security policies, standards and procedures in the performance of job duties
Participating in security training provided by BigMachines
Reporting any potential security weakness, exposure or suspicious indications to manager
Skills/Requirements
5+ years of experience in accounting and financial management
Experience in a fast-paced, growing, ever changing environment, preferably with a software company
Experience resolving complex financial operations issues with multiple foreign subsidiaries
BA/BS in Accounting and/or Finance preferred
Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles, such as GAAP and accrual-based accounting
Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations
General business understanding
Advanced analytical problem solving skills
Able to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections
Proficiency with MS Excel is required, and experience with Intacct and Salesforce is preferred
Advanced written and verbal communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Experience managing a team
Desire to stretch professionally
