Reporting to the Controller, the Assistant Controller will play a key role in the preparation of SEC filings and internal reporting for Insmed, specifically focused on the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to financial management.
Responsibilities: Following is a list of essential duties, functions and responsibilities. Include key aspects of the role?whether performed daily, weekly, monthly, or annually; and any that occur at irregular intervals.
Perform month end, quarter, and fiscal year end processes for timely period closing and ensure compliance of sound reconciliation processes and procedures.
Assist in preparation of budgets (capital, expense, revenue). Investigates variance of actual to budget on a monthly basis.
Manage Accounts Payable and Payroll
Ensures compliance with internal controls over financial reporting and perform tests of controls within processes outside of financial close and equity.
Assist internal business partners develop budget inputs.
Provide financial support to internal business partners so they have the financial information necessary to make sound decision within their operations.
Supports VP of Finance by participating in annual review (audit) by external/internal auditors.
Work on basic to more complex financial analysis assignments and projects.
Minimum of 8 years of Accounting/Finance experience with exposure to general accounting and cost accounting.
Prior experience with internal control requirements (SOX), including a strong understanding of an effective and efficient internal control environment.
SEC and public company experience required.
Strong technical knowledge of accounting principles, financial disclosures and the financial statement close process.
Demonstrated ability to learn and succeed in a fast paced continually-changing/growing environment.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, manage multiple priorities, exercise sound judgment, be well organized, take initiative, be flexible, work well under pressure and produce accurate and timely work.
Strong team management experience required.
Ability to interact with all levels of staff and management.
Strong analytical and computer skills
Microsoft Office proficiency, including Excel and Word.
Good communication skills
Bachelor?s degree in Accounting or Finance required. Advanced degree preferred.
