Assistant Research Scientist - Discovery Chemistry B Marrone Organic Innovations

Marrone Bio Innovations, Inc. (MBI) is a fast growing Biotechnology firm in the fields of Agriculture and Water Treatment. MBI discovers, develops, and markets cutting edge technologies utilizing natural products for pest, weed, disease and invasive species control. We are looking for a full-time ASSISTANT RESEARCH SCIENTIST to join our energetic team in our Davis laboratory.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assist in protein extraction, purification and identification, or in small molecules extraction, purification through a variety of chromatography methods (e.g., HPLC, FPLC) or gel electrophoresis (e.g., Native PAGE, SDS PAGE, IEF)
Assist in biochemical method development and sample quantification
Must be able to properly prepare samples for bioassays and buffers
Accurately operate standard laboratory equipments (e.g., balances, pipettes, pH meter, ultra-/centrifuges, gel electrophoresis equipment)
Ability to design and independently perform tasks and provide accurate results
Effectively plans work schedule and able to utilize resources for timely completion of assigned projects.
Experience using computer programs Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Document and maintain legible, accurate, and complete laboratory records.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Trains, mentors, and assists less experienced staff.
Maintains a clean and safe laboratory work environment.
Assists in writing reports and protocols, including SOPs and methods.
Promotes a cohesive team environment

Qualifications

A successful candidate has a B.S. or M.S. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Analytical Chemistry with preferably 0-3 years of work experience. MUST POSSESS KNOWLEDGE of protein purification methods or small molecule purification methods. The candidate is expected to have good organizational and record keeping skills and the ability to work effectively in a multi-project team environment and to collaborate with colleagues to achieve goals. Specific experience in bench scale laboratory processes relevant to preparation of agricultural or pharmaceutical chemical products is a plus.

Compensation

The salary range is competitive.
