Assistant Scientist, Molecular Biology BioEnergy International

SUMMARY

Myriant Corp. is looking for a talented, energetic, highly motivated Assistant Scientist to join our Molecular Biology Department in Woburn, MA, for work on engineering bacteria and yeast for the production of specialty chemicals. A Bachelor's degree is required. Two or more years of laboratory experience in gene cloning is preferred. A Bachelor's degree is required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct shake flask and Fleaker (small anaerobic flasks with pH control) evaluations of bacteria and yeast strains

Conduct gene cloning and plasmid construction experiments with bacteria and yeast

Construct new genetically engineered strains of bacteria and yeast

Assist supervisor with laboratory tasks

Construct tables and graphs of data

Record all data in laboratory notebooks

Write summaries of research activities



EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

BA, BS, MA, or MS in Molecular Biology or related field. Course work should include inorganic and organic chemistry and molecular biology or genetics.

Two or more years of laboratory experience in genetic engineering.



EQUIPMENT USED

Centrifuges, PCR machine, computers, gel electrophoresis equipment, electroporator, Fleakers, autoclaves, microscopes.
