The mission of the Freescale Finance department is to drive timely, effective and intelligent financial governance of our company to achieve our vision of consistent and superior financial performance that exceeds industry return on equity and maximizes shareholder value. The Finance Department is an independent function chartered with the responsibility to deliver to its customers: processes that ensure sound corporate governance; tools and processes that enable timely, effective and relevant business decisions; and consistent, accurate, reliable and efficient transactional systems and performance information.
Reporting directly to the Vice President and Treasurer, the Assistant Treasurer will be responsible for cash management and investments, hedging and capital markets activities of the corporation, including all financings and covenant compliance. The position will also include reporting, controlling and record keeping for the above activities. This individual will need to successfully interact with people throughout the organization, as well as outside financial advisors. The individual will manage a core team of people, as well as provide direction to international treasury personnel.
Recommend and execute short and long-term financings as dictated by Freescale?s global capital needs and capital structure goals;
Structure, negotiate, market and execute capital markets transactions in a variety of categories including public and private and bank facilities;
Manage all aspects of debt covenant compliance, including quantifying credit statistics, tracking basket usage, and influencing business transactions throughout the organization to ensure compliance
Evaluate and implement short-term investment strategies for the Company;
Manage the Company?s cash repatriation strategy and activity;
Structure and participate in presentations and discussions with the outside bankers and rating agencies;
Structure and participate in presentations and discussions with internal senior management;
Review proposals for new financial products for investments, hedging and financings; obtain approval to implement those proposals found to have real economic value to the Company;
Review M&A and divestiture activities as required, focusing on economics and integration issues;
Participate in additional finance projects on an ad hoc basis.
MBA or related advanced degree and/or CFA preferred.
The successful candidate must have seven + years of proven experience in a corporate treasury function. Experience in a levered financial environment is preferred. This person will have a strong, broad background in finance including the general principles of corporate finance, banking, the capital markets (investing, financing, interest rate risk management, etc.). He/she must have an understanding of various financial instruments (debt and equity instruments, investment products, foreign exchange and derivative contracts, options, etc.). He/she must have good experience in managing short-term investments as well as experience in the valuation, due diligence and integration components of M&A transactions. A general knowledge of tax principles including taxation of investment income and financing costs and U.S. taxation of foreign operations is important. Strong knowledge of accounting for financial transactions is also required. This person must have a strong understanding of shareholder value principles with a demonstrated ability to identify, quantify and treat financial market risk.
