Position Description
Reporting to the Senior Director of Commercial Operations, the Associate Director/Director of US & International Commercial Training is responsible for developing all Commercial related training programs and delivering sales materials to the customer facing roles working closely with the Medical Affairs function relating to content where applicable. This will include disease state, product/competitive product knowledge, compliance (OIG), and any other commercial effectiveness processes and systems. In addition, this position will also be responsible for developing and facilitating Plan of Action (POA) meetings and product launches. The incumbent will need to collaborate across Marketing, Sales, Managed-Care, Legal, HR, Regulatory, Medical and Operations in support of a ?high-touch? customer philosophy.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop training for launch plans for US and International Sales & Marketing teams to ensure consistency in launch readiness including product and non-product training modules for the Lipid Specialty Manager Sales Force and all commercial and medical personnel in the US and International.
Prepare commercial and medical teams for by country launch execution (GMs and Country Managers, sales, field medical, payer teams) as well as partners (distributors, consultants as needed, etc.).
Support preparation of launch meetings in US and International.
Support all training for all sales meetings such as POAs in the US & International, etc.
Lead and coordinate new hire orientation and training programs for US and International Commercial Organization related to commercial and marketing training.
Facilitate the development and exercise responsibility for field Medical Training (MSLs).
Support ongoing training efforts such as journal clubs, newsletters, etc.
Develop capability assessments of commercial efforts and design training and development programs to address commercial gaps and needs related to disease and product knowledge. All capability assessments need to be partnered with Human Resources to ensure alignment and consistency of Global assessment tools and to ensure alignment with global training and development initiatives.
Measure training effectiveness efforts and field sales customer perceptions and benchmark against competition / external organizations.
Utilizing Aegerion?s Travel & Entertainment provider works closely to oversee commercial meeting planning and execution, including site and production vendor selection, agenda creation, workshop development, and event facilitation.
Identify, evaluate and manage vendors to support commercial and marketing content training.
Establish goals and learning objectives related to commercial and marketing training to design appropriate and effective curriculum, leveraging principles of adult leaning, and incorporate required regulatory and legal compliance requirements.
Document and maintain proper records of commercial and marketing training initiatives.
Participate in the Promotional Review Committee (PRC) process to expedite the delivery of material to field.
Create and actively manage a commercial calendar to ensure proper planning and timing of key events throughout the year.
Manage the annual US & International commercial and marketing training budget and conduct budget forecasting.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor?s degree
At least 15 years pharmaceutical industry experience, with a minimum of 4 years experience in a sales training position (Cardiovascular a plus).
US and International experience and demonstrated ability to effectively work across cultures highly preferred.
Experience serving in sales management is preferred. Experience in marketing or operations is desirable.
Demonstrated success in managing numerous projects simultaneously.
Thorough understanding of specialty pharmacy and orphan drug payor coverage challenges.
Ability to challenge the thinking of an experienced sales team.
Strong interpersonal, presentation and facilitation skills required .
Requires 25% travel (more at times of launch, etc.)
