Job Summary
The individual in this role is responsible for developing and supporting Insmed?s entire portfolio of applications and databases. The individual in this role is also responsible for providing the management, development, and security of Insmed?s information systems network, infrastructure, servers, server based applications, database maintenance, storage backups and recovery, and phone systems. Working alongside a team of network and hardware support experts, this individual manages internal and external resources to ensure maximum utilization and effectiveness of Insmed?s applications and databases. This position leads the Information Management initiatives for design, documentation, implementation, integration and/or configuration of new or revised hardware, software, policies and procedures which enhance and support defined business requirements. This role also manages IT software and support purchases, agreements and vendor relationships.
Essential Functions
Supports all applications and databases for business and enterprise operations, including: scientific, research, and clinical tools; intranet/intranet tools, applications and services;
Oversees all IT-software related purchasing and budget usage; works with IT leadership to develop budgets;
Reviews, modifies and creates operations plans, policies, procedures, and transition/migration plans to ensure they are consistent with generally accepted IT practices and overall company goals and objectives;
Analyzes the company?s needs, evaluates options, and proposes solutions for end-user support for hardware and applications;
Manages projects that involve integration of multiple end-user systems/applications both in regulated and non-regulated areas, including the writing of detailed specification documents, test scripts and plans, and working practices;
Helps establish and build relationships with vendors in conjunction with corporate leadership;
Holds responsibility for capacity planning and scheduling vendor negotiations related to IT applications.
Managing the general maintenance, troubleshooting and security of the entire IT network infrastructure and server environment, including all business-related software, applications and databases;
Ensuring the safety and security of the network including proper configuration of the PTC firewall, virus protection for all PTC IT equipment, disaster recovery, and the proper physical maintenance of servers and server rooms;
Providing guidance and direction to the overall network design and maintenance procedures, budget, purchasing of equipment and software, vendor relations, contract negotiations, software license management, security, and disaster recovery.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required
Minimum of at least 8 years of total IT experience
Minimum of 2-5 years of supervisory experience
Relevant experience in network design, support, troubleshooting, and security required.
Special knowledge or skills needed and/or licenses or certificates required:
Windows Server and Client Operating Systems, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, Exchange, SQL, Oracle, Routers, Switches, VPN, Firewalls, Wireless, SAN, NAS, Backup software & hardware, Antivirus software, Business software;
Good interpersonal and organizational skills;
Ability to manage priorities, actively seek input, problem solve, and work within a matrix team environment;
Ability to exercise strong judgment in analyzing, appraising, evaluating and solving problems of a difficult procedural, organizational, administrative, or technical nature;
Ability to analyze information related to computer technology to assist in directing company management in the selection of software and hardware to meet the needs of the organization required;
Good oral and written communication skills required; and must be able to work during non-standard work hours.
