Job Title: Associate Director, Technical Project Management
Location: Cambridge, MA
Provide leadership to the Client Technical Solutions (CTS) team. The CTS team is responsible for liaising with clients to collect requirements and create technical specifications for studies developed with the company?s in-house Electronic Data Capture (EDC) platform. In addition, this team is responsible for creating and tracking project timelines to ensure EDC systems are developed in a timely, high quality manner to support internal and external customers.
Software Delivery Oversight
o Ensure technical specifications are accurate, complete, and developed on-time to keep EDC software development effort on track.
o Ensure project plans are created and tracked for all EDC system development projects.
o Ensure project milestones are met according to agreed upon timelines with high quality.
o Ensure actual scope of work specific to the EDC database aligns with contracted project scope.
o Provide expert review and guidance for EDC system deliverables including CRF/e-CRF (case report form), database design and set-up, validation definition and programming, and database deliverables to internal and external customers.
o Hire, train, and manage Technical Project Managers and System Analysts.
o Lead Technical Project Management team to ensure consistent, high quality delivery of EDC system specifications and resulting software.
Attend required customer meetings and lead discussions of project requirements.
Proactively manage customer expectations for the CTS team for software features and delivery schedules.
Develop and manage long term customer relationships.
o Lead and direct required process improvement initiatives.
o Provide technical advice and solutions to internal and external customers to solve problems and improve efficiency. Ensure that the CTS team meets or exceeds established delivery metrics for productivity, timeliness, and quality.
o Monitor quality and efficiency across the CTS group to identify trends and opportunities for improvements. Ensure sharing of learning across projects.
o Oversee implementation of new tools and processes to improve productivity.
Work collaboratively to coordinate delivery functions across several corporate departments including Scientific Affairs, Clinical Project Management, Data Management, Engineering, IT, and Production Services.
Support Clinical Project Managers in managing customer expectations for scope and timing of EDC system functionality.
Serve as a liaison to support Business Development team to identify and scope new EDC system opportunities.
Work collaboratively with Engineering, IT and Product Management teams to ensure that new product releases meet customer expectations and improve efficiency.
Maintain an appropriate set of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work practices (WPs) that apply to the work performed by the Technical Project Management team.
Review and improve SOPs and WPs as needed to document changes in procedures and work practices, and to incorporate process improvements.
Ensure staff is trained on and adheres to appropriate SOPs and WPs.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
? Solid understanding of clinical drug development process
? Proven track record of managing teams developing clinical software applications? In-depth knowledge of EDC platforms
Understanding of technical specifications gathering from a business analysis perspective
Understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC) process
Experience in working with clinical data management collection tools from a software development perspective
Ability to allocate appropriate resources in a dynamic manner, based on solid understanding of the technical specifications gathering process for new studies and change orders on ongoing projects

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
? Bachelor?s degree or educational equivalence required. MBA, MS, or PMP certification preferred. At least 10 years of relevant work experience including substantial people management experience.
