EverydayHealth.com seeks a bright, responsible, self-directed, detail-oriented, organized Associate Editor with common sense, ambition to help drive our mission as the No. 1 digital consumer destination for health news and information, expert advice, patient advocacy, support, and inspiration to live a healthier, happier life.
The prospective candidate must have solid editing skills and experience working with content management systems and basic HTML, be skilled at tackling multiple projects at once, and be able to work well with others as well as on independent projects. Candidate must also have a working knowledge of online media and social media, and an interest in the subjects of health and wellness.
The Associate Editor will report to the Executive Editor/Trends and Presentation, who prioritizes daily, weekly and recurring tasks among members of the Trends and Presentation team. In addition to working closely with the editorial and product teams, the assistant editor may work with the technology team. Excellent communication skills are a must.
Edit high-volume condition-specific content from a network of freelancers.
Build health centers, slideshows, and articles in our content management system (CMS) and publish content to the site.
Assist with site architecture and related projects.
Code articles with HTML.
Address CMS issues and errors on the website as they arise, map and redirect URLs, and fix broken links.
Work with the editorial team to contribute ideas for the site, and assist with research and fact-checking.
College degree, preferably with English, journalism, or computer science concentration or equivalent experience.
Basic understanding of HTML, content management systems, and online media.
Solid writing, editing, research, and interpersonal communication skills.
Detail-oriented with the ability to meet deadlines effectively and multitask.
Proficiency with Excel a plus.
