JOB POSITION: Associate Software Engineer
JOB LOCATION: Chicago, IL
JOB SUMMARY: This technical position is for a website developer that will be a part of a small team that manages a global CMS Java web application. This is a high-paced environment with quick turnaround expected on most requests. Flexibility is required as reprioritization of projects will occur.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Take website requirements, design, implement (front and back end), test, document, and maintain code
• Support content editors in the CMS when technical issues arise
• Independently work on small to large projects based on demand
• Function as one of the administrators to the CMS (users, security, template management, etc)
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
• Degreed (Assoc. or B.S.) in Computer Science or equivalent in work experience
• A minimum of 2 years industry experience
• Object-oriented development concepts and design patterns
REQUIRED SKILLS:
• Java (JSPs/Servlets)
• JavaScript/jQuery/AJAX
• HTML/CSS (HTML5 and CSS3 experience would be a bonus)
• Unit testing
• SVN or similar version control tools
• MS SQL Server
• Tomcat, Apache, Squid
PREFERRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
• Website CMS experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Diagnostic and trouble-shooting ability
• Desire to learn and ability to quickly grasp and master new technologies
