The Role: Associate Producer
The associate producer will assist both the director of production and manager of the Howcast Emerging Filmmakers Program in all facets of production on in-house, third-party client, and emerging filmmaker videos. The position will involve an array of duties including helping to coordinate production, reviewing videos, outreach and marketing, administrative and data tracking, correspondence with filmmakers, and set work. This challenging role offers an opportunity to take part in many projects and contribute in ways that truly impact our growing company.
The right candidate will have the ability to switch gears and juggle multiple projects, possess polished communication skills, be able to report on project statuses and results, be extremely organized and detail-oriented, have excellent decision-making skills and the ability to analyze problems from multiple perspectives, and have a solid understanding of video editing and the ability to review videos for technical errors as well as content improvements. Internet savvy and an interest in web video and online media are essential. In addition, some knowledge of marketing and social media is helpful.
Specific duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting in pre-production, production, and post-production of in-house and client videos
- Reviewing videos and providing notes to filmmakers
- Using the site to organize and track filmmaker assignments
- Tracking and maintaining filmmaker and video data, including video status, invoices, release forms, and deliverables
- Troubleshooting filmmaker issues and responding to questions
- Posting calls for filmmakers and maintaining a presence on Facebook and other social networks
- Assisting in and taking initiative on special projects, such as live webinars, contests, and blog posts, as they arise
Requirements
+ 2-3 years experience in production and post-production
+ Ability to manage time and prioritize assignments and deadlines
+ Polished written and verbal communication skills
+ Keen attention to detail and organization skills
+ Ability to review videos and provide technical and content feedback to filmmakers
+ Patience and enthusiasm to thrive in a fast-paced, start-up environment
+ Interest in web video and online media
+ Working knowledge of Final Cut Pro and ability to make quick spot fixes in a pinch.
